Car Exploads

A woman named Annamaria Badenchini had lost control of her vehicle while driving. 
Her car flipped over and and burst into flames.  Drivers stopped and helped Annammaria out the car.
A guy named Todd Pezzementi said hee recognized the driver and he went to school with her and her husband. Annammaria suffered facial injuries, and major trauma to her left leg.  She was taken to
 Westchester Medical Center.  I hope she feels better and that incident won't happen again.

The ratio of the circumference of a circle to the perimeter of a square is 2 : 1. Each side of the square measures 22 cm. What is the measure of the radius of the circle?
 My answer is 28
Perimeter of the square is 4 x 22 equal 88 cm. = 2 x 88 = 176 cm. This should be equal to 2 x 22/7 x r.
Therefore, r = 176 x 7/22 x 1/2 = 28 cm.

Bartolo Colon

Bartolo Colon is a baseball player. Colon pitches for the Yankees. I think Bartolo Colon is great pitcher, and he is very experienced.  Bartolo Colon pulled his left hamstring, yet decided to play anyway.   Thursday night, the Yankees lost 16-7.  Bartolo says he does not want to get hurt again and he doesn't like how he used to  pitch.  Bartolo Colon is one of the greatest baseball players, and I hope he feels better.  I hope the Yankees will have a better season next year.

Math

One full box of candies weighs 1.59 kg. If I take out 40 candies from the box, the weight of the box comes down to 1.47 kg. How many candies are there in the box originally? (Ignore the weight of the box that holds the candies)
My answer 530

    The weight of 40 candies must be 1.59 minus 1.47 = 0.12 kg = 120 grams. Then, each candy must weigh 3 grams, Then original weight of the box was 1.59 kg equal 1590 grams.  Number of candies equal 1590/3 equal 530 candies.

Death

A little boy was named Leiby Kletzky disappeared.   Leiby lived in Brooklyn, and he was 8 years old.  Police search for Leiby for a day and a half.  A man named Aron abused and killed the 8 year old boy.
Aron told police Leiby's body was in pieces, and his body parts were found in a nearby dumpster and in Aron's kitchen. I feel sad for Leiby and his parents.  Leiby deserves a good funeral, I recommend this article because its interesting and you find out what his parents are going through.

  My answer is 59

 first I count to see how many times 1 appear 125, then I count to see how many times 1 appear in the tens digit. 10, 11, 12, 13.. 19 and then I counted up to 125

Bear cub cought napping in Nyack Tree

     A Bear cub was caught napping in a South Nyack tree.  The cub was found in a families backyard early Monday afternoon.  People around the community gathered around to see the cub.  The cub got shot with a tranquilizer dart and was taken to the woods.
  Why do you think the cub was in Nyack?

Car Crash

Today's article was about a Clarkstown police officer who crashed on Route 59.  The police officer suffered minor injuries.  A Honda Odyssey driven by a 62 year old woman who was coming from Palisades was traveling in the eastbound left lane of Route 59 and hit the police officer.
  The 62 year old said " she saw the emergency lights and the siren, but it was too late for her to stop so they collided."  So the officer was taken to Nyack Hospital.  I feel bad for the officer and I hope he get better soon

   

         

Rescued Beagles

Today I read an article on rescued Beagles.  A Beagle named Lucky had been left in a cosmetics  laboratory after the company went bankrupt.  Lucky weighed 18 pounds and he could barely walk.  Lucky was adopted by Debbie Vobroucek, and she says "He's very spoiled".  She feeds him ground turkey, whole wheat pasta, and brown rice mixed with vegetables.  Now Lucky weighs 32 pounds.  I think its nice that Debbie Vobroucek help Lucky threw his time of need.
